Ribeirão Pires city hall replaces secretary after PF cancels GCM weapon permits

Ribeirão Pires city hall announced on Friday (19/6) the change in command of the Urban Security, Mobility and Civil Defense Secretariat and the Municipal Civil Guard, two days after the Federal Police canceled the corporation's weapon permits.

The current Legal Affairs secretary, Rangel Ferreira, takes interim charge of the urban security department. Arlei Capoccio, former GCM commander, now heads the Internal Affairs unit. Filipe Murilo Silva, aged 41, is the new Municipal Civil Guard commander.

The Federal Police decision followed missing documents, legal requirements or updates to mandatory registrations and training. The city hall stated the documentary issues will be resolved shortly.

Mayor Guto Volpi met with authorities from the Civil and Military Police and the Public Ministry. The State Public Security Secretariat said Military Police agents will be sent to ensure security in the area until operations normalize.
