São Paulo's Public Security Secretary Nico Osvaldo Gonçalves stated that Lieutenant Colonel Geraldo Leite Rosa Neto will face a Justification Council, a process that could lead to loss of rank and expulsion from the Military Police. The officer is jailed for allegedly killing his wife, Soldier Gisele Alves Santana, in February. His defense says he will defend himself in the process.
São Paulo's Public Security Secretary Nico Osvaldo Gonçalves stated on Thursday (26) that Lieutenant Colonel Geraldo Leite Rosa Neto, 53, will be subjected to the Justification Council. This procedure could lead to the loss of rank and expulsion from the Military Police (PM). “It will be offered by the Military Police,” Nico told Folha, with no set date for initiation. The Military Police Inquiry investigating the case is in its final phase, and upon completion and referral to the Judiciary, the PM General Command will evaluate opening the council. The general commander, Colonel José Augusto Coutinho, designates the targeted officer, but the secretary determines the opening. The council assesses if the military has the moral and professional fitness to retain the post, allowing defense. Neto's defense, via lawyer Eugênio Malavasi, said he “will exercise the sacrosanct right of defense” if opened. Gisele's family lawyer, José Miguel da Silva Júnior, had requested it since March 23, noting it's common in the PM to review ethical conduct before final judicial ruling. Gisele, 32, died on February 18 from a headshot in the couple's Brás apartment in central São Paulo. Initially ruled suicide, it became suspected feminicide due to inconsistencies in Neto's statement and scene evidence. Recent exhumation showed neck and face lesions with finger and nail marks. Neto was arrested on March 18 in São José dos Campos for feminicide, procedural fraud, and domestic violence. Messages on his phone reveal 'manosphere' language, such as “I treat you like every alpha male treats his wife – with love, affection, attention and authority of Alpha Male provider and beta female obedient and submissive.” In 2022, Lieutenant Henrique Otávio Oliveira Velozo faced council 11 days after killing Leandro Lo, losing his position despite later judicial acquittal.”
