Ruto announces Mau Mau Road project to complete in two years

President William Ruto has announced that the Mau Mau Road project linking four counties is 60 percent complete and will finish within two years. He made the statement at a church event in A.I.C. Githumu, Kandara, Murang’a County. The government has allocated Ksh2 billion for the section through Murang’a.

President William Ruto spoke at a church function in A.I.C. Githumu, Kandara, Murang’a County. “We have many road projects here in Muranga County, and one road project in particular is the Mau Mau Road Project, is now 60 per cent complete,” stated Ruto.

He added, “We have now allocated Ksh2 billion on Mau Mau Roads Project so that it can be completed in due time, latest in the next two years.” The Ksh2 billion will cover the 48-kilometre section through Murang’a County.

The Mau Mau Road project connects Kiambu, Murang’a, Nyeri, and Nyandarua counties over about 540 kilometres at a cost of roughly Ksh30 billion. Started two years ago, it follows routes used by freedom fighters during the Mau Mau uprising to improve transport of tea and coffee.

The initiative forms part of Ruto's plan to build over 28,000 kilometres of roads in seven years under his “Singapore Dream” to elevate Kenya to first-world status.
