Ruto confirms Kenyatta Avenue-Upper Hill Viaduct completion by December

President William Ruto announced on June 29 that the KSh 3 billion Kenyatta Avenue–Upper Hill viaduct will open before December after years of delays.

Speaking during the commissioning of the Ngong Road–Naivasha Road Flyover, Ruto said the project near All Saints’ Cathedral is now 60 per cent complete. Construction started in September 2020 but faced delays from payment disputes until resuming in July 2025.

The viaduct forms part of several works including the Valley Road–Kenyatta Avenue/Ngong/Nyerere Interchange. Once finished it will be a one-kilometre dual carriageway with cycle lanes and pedestrian walkways.

Ruto stated that completion will ease access into the Central Business District and reduce congestion in one of Nairobi’s busiest commercial corridors.
