삼성전자는 목요일 런던에서 열린 갤럭시 언팩 2026 이후 기자회견에서 스마트 안경을 스마트폰 경험의 연장으로 설명했다.
최재인 확장현실 연구개발팀장은 스마트 안경이 스마트폰을 대체하는 것이 아니라 모바일 경험을 확장한다고 밝혔다. 장치는 음성 기반 비표시형이며 퀄컴 웨어러블 칩셋으로 구동되고 한 번 충전으로 최대 9시간 작동한다.
삼성은 젠틀몬스터와 워비파커와 협력해 4개 모델을 선보였다. 200개 이상의 특허를 확보했으며 10%는 프라이버시 보호 기술에 관한 것이다. 회사는 스마트폰 수준의 내구성 테스트와 20개 이상의 새로운 테스트 방법을 적용했다.
분할 컴퓨팅을 통해 가벼운 작업은 안경에서 처리하고 무거운 AI 작업은 연결된 스마트폰에서 수행한다. 갤럭시 워치가 컨트롤러 역할을 하며 오디오가 갤럭시 버즈로 자동 전환된다.
최 팀장은 메타와 다른 접근 방식을 취하며 무게를 줄이고 하루 종일 착용하기 편하게 만드는 데 집중했다고 말했다. 가격은 프리미엄 범위로 시작할 예정이다.
