Indian high jumper Sarvesh Anil Kushare finished third in his first Diamond League meet in Monaco on Friday with a jump of 2.26 metres.
World leader Oleh Doroshchuk won the event with 2.32 metres while Jack Kimani took second place at 2.30 metres. The 31-year-old from Maharashtra cleared heights up to 2.26 metres before failing at 2.28 metres.
Kushare became the first Indian to reach the top three on his Diamond League debut. He joins Neeraj Chopra, Vikas Gowda and Sreeshankar Murali as the only Indians to have finished in the top three at any Diamond League meeting.
The performance follows his national record of 2.31 metres set recently at the Inter State National Championships in Bhubaneswar. Kushare had placed sixth at the 2025 Tokyo World Championships.
