Steelers undrafted rookie Harvey follows Porter's example

The Pittsburgh Steelers added cornerback Ahmari Harvey to their roster on June 25. The undrafted rookie hopes to replicate the path taken by teammate Daryl Porter last season.

Harvey signed after the team concluded its spring practices. As the newest addition, he enters training camp with limited expectations but a clear opportunity to earn a spot.

Porter, also a cornerback, joined the team last August as an injury replacement. He impressed coaches during practices, earned a practice squad role after initial roster cuts, and made his NFL debut in Week 16.

Harvey benefits from additional time to learn the playbook compared to Porter's rushed arrival. His college performance included three interceptions in 2023 and 63 tackles in 2024 before an ankle injury.

The immediate goal for Harvey remains securing a practice squad position rather than a spot on the 53-man roster.
