Sweden sends 235 million kronor to Gaza

The Swedish government has decided to send an additional 235 million kronor in humanitarian aid to Gaza. The funds will support health, sanitation, clean water and hygiene items.

The government announced the decision on Monday. Aid and Foreign Trade Minister Benjamin Dousa (M) described the situation as very acute.

The government has allocated a total of 800 million kronor for humanitarian aid to Gaza. Of this amount, 555 million was sent in March and an additional 235 million is now being provided.

Dousa noted that the number of reported diseases linked to inadequate living conditions has increased during the spring. Ten million kronor remain of the allocated funds and the government does not rule out further support.

Total Swedish aid to Gaza since October 2023 now amounts to 2.4 billion kronor.
