Tesla models top 2026 American-Made Index

The Tesla Model 3 and Model Y took the top two spots on the annual Cars.com American-Made Index for 2026. This marks the sixth straight year Tesla vehicles have led the ranking for most domestically produced cars.

The Model 3, assembled in Fremont, California, ranked first. The Model Y, built in both California and Austin, Texas, placed second.

Cars.com bases the index on five criteria, including final assembly location, share of domestic parts, and the size of the automaker’s US workforce. The two Tesla models were the only battery electric vehicles in the top 10.

Jeep Gladiator and Jeep Grand Cherokee followed in third and fourth place. Tesla’s strong showing stems from its use of many locally sourced components for motors and battery packs.
