Three detained in flamenco singer Matías de Paula murder

National Police have detained three people over the murder of flamenco singer Matías de Paula in Villanueva de la Serena. The arrests include the son and nephew of the main suspect, who seriously wounded a taxi driver during his escape.

The crime took place last Friday after 3:00 p.m. near plaza Rafael Alberti in Villanueva de la Serena. Matías de Paula, aged 52, was shot several times and died at the scene.

The main suspect, identified as F.S.S. and aged 54, was arrested on Tuesday afternoon following a police chase in Magacela. Before his arrest he stabbed a taxi driver who refused to transport him, leaving the driver in critical condition.

The suspect's son and nephew turned themselves in during the past hours. Both assisted in planning the crime, which investigators link to personal motives. The case remains under judicial secrecy.

Pitingo, a friend of the deceased, wrote on social media: "No sé ni qué decir... hay noticias que te rompen por dentro y te dejan el alma en silencio."
