Trent Reznor clarifies Nine Inch Nails touring future at tour finale

Trent Reznor addressed confusion over Nine Inch Nails' touring plans during the final show of the Peel It Back Tour in Sacramento on March 16, 2026. He clarified earlier remarks from a February concert, stating the band has no immediate tours booked but may return in the future. The frontman also announced plans to focus on new music.

Nine Inch Nails concluded their 63-date Peel It Back Tour, which began in September 2025 and marked the band's first tour since 2022, with a performance in Sacramento on March 16, 2026. During a show in Tulsa on February 27, Reznor had said: “I don’t know if we’re gonna be touring anymore after this, but I’m proud of the show that we’re doing right now.” This drew attention, prompting clarification at the finale. Reznor explained: “This is the last show of this tour and we don’t have any shows booked and we don’t have any plans to book any shows any time in the future so far. That doesn’t mean we may not tour again. It won’t be next month, it won’t be this year. I never said we were intentionally stopping and I never meant that.” He attributed the prior touring gap to uncertainty: “We didn’t tour for a while before this tour because, frankly, I didn’t know if we could do it well and if it still mattered and if we really feel like we had something to say.” Reznor praised the band—including official members Atticus Ross and touring members Robin Finck, Josh Freese, and Stu Brooks—and crew: “We put on a show that I’m really fucking proud of.” Looking ahead, he said: “What we’re going to do is work on some new music, and make some new shit. And if we feel inspired, and if we feel we can beat this [tour] we’ll see you again.” The band's last original albums were Ghosts V: Together and Ghosts VI: Locusts in 2020, followed by the Tron: Ares soundtrack last year. Upcoming appearances include Coachella on April 10 and 17 as Nine Inch Noize with Boys Noize.
