Left Party leader Nooshi Dadgostar demands a billionaire tax for justice and welfare. She argues the wealthy should contribute more than wage earners.
Nooshi Dadgostar presented the proposal in an interview published on June 6, 2026. She said such a tax modeled on economist Gabriel Zucman would barely be noticed by the richest. The one standing in the store at Hemköp should not pay more in tax than the one who owns Hemköp, Dadgostar said. She pointed out that wage earners pay a higher share in tax than those with capital income. Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and SD leader Jimmie Åkesson recently criticized V for left-wing populism. Dadgostar replied that the proposal concerns securing healthcare, schools and care. According to Dadgostar, the party's April congress requires V to be included in any potential red-green government. The party aims for a better result than 6.7 percent from the 2022 parliamentary election.
