Zach Cregger and Roy Lee are set to produce the dark comedy 'Little One,' marking the feature directorial debut of Alex Kavutskiy. The film centers on a sudden change in a child's behavior that threatens to unravel a picture-perfect family. Production is slated to begin in Los Angeles in June after receiving a California tax credit.
Zach Cregger, fresh off directing the horror hit 'Weapons' and wrapping his 'Resident Evil' adaptation, is reteaming with producer Roy Lee on 'Little One.' The project also brings on board Chris McEwen, known for 'Love, Simon,' along with Amanda Phillips and Melina Torres from Soto Productions. Hammerstone Studios, led by Alex Lebovici, will finance the film, reuniting with Cregger following 'Barbarian.' Executive producers include Ibrahim Mohammed and Chase Vigari from Script 2 Screen, as well as David Goldman, Michael Learner, and Karina Manashil, with Sacker Entertainment Law handling production legal matters. Casting is currently underway for the Alex Kavutskiy-scripted story, which evokes tones similar to Cregger's breakout 'Barbarian.' Kavutskiy, a friend of Cregger's, steps up from shorts like the Sundance entry 'Squirrel' and the Adult Swim special 'Cool Dad,' plus writing on 'Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat.' He recently co-authored the book 'The Tribe and I Have Spoken' on the 'Survivor' series. Cregger returns to comedy roots from his time with The Whitest Kids U' Know troupe. Roy Lee adds momentum from successes like 'A Minecraft Movie,' which grossed over $960 million worldwide. 'Weapons' earned more than $269 million globally and an Oscar for Amy Madigan as Aunt Gladys.
