A 13-year-old boy was lured from his apartment and shot to death on a Washington D.C. street Saturday evening. Police are investigating the homicide and offering a reward for information.
Ahmad Mims was killed after someone knocked on his door in the 1600 block of Rosedale Street and asked him to come outside, according to his grandmother Monica Mims and witnesses.
Ring camera footage captured two young males waiting in the hallway. Mims exited, then peered back through the camera before later being shot in the chest inside a building on the block.
Officers responded around 8:30 p.m. to a report of a person shot and found Mims unconscious with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A witness reported seeing his body dragged to the sidewalk by a muscular Black male wearing all black.
Metropolitan Police Department said the investigation is ongoing. A possible motive mentioned by witnesses involves a prior fight, though police have not confirmed any connection.
