Nadji Jeter revealed on the Love It Film podcast that Insomniac Games once planned a full Venom video game alongside Venom DLC for Marvel's Spider-Man 2. He attributed the cancellation to the passing of Tony Todd, who voiced the symbiote character and died in 2024 at age 69. Jeter said Insomniac showed him details of the project, describing it as building on the Venom playthrough already in the game. Todd's ominous voice performance had been a highlight for Venom in Spider-Man 2. In March 2024, Insomniac's New Game Plus update for Spider-Man 2 briefly exposed a development menu to players, revealing unused content such as free-roam options for Venom, young Peter Parker, and MJ. This suggested possible cut features or planned expansions, though the studio quickly patched the issue. Bloomberg's Jason Schreier responded to the claims in a ResetEra thread, stating simply, 'This isn't true.' One forum user noted the information contradicted discussions at the recent Game Developers Conference. Insomniac had confirmed a month before Todd's death that it had no additional story content planned for Spider-Man 2.
