Al Mokhtabar and Siemens Healthineers launch MEA’s first FLEXLAB-X system

Egypt’s Al Mokhtabar has launched the Middle East and Africa’s first FLEXLAB-X total lab automation track from Siemens Healthineers at its central Mega Lab facility.

The new system enables processing of up to 30,000 samples per day and has cut average turnaround time for results to 32.4 minutes from the prior target of 120 minutes. It can handle up to 87,000 tests daily across clinical chemistry, immunoassays, oncology, cardiac biomarkers and infectious diseases.

Dr. Hend El Sherbini, Chief Executive Officer of Integrated Diagnostics Holdings, the parent company of Al Mokhtabar, said the track gives physicians faster and more dependable answers across multiple specialties. She added that the Mega Lab employs more than 300 physicians and specialists and offers over 3,000 tests and parameters.

Ahmed Mazen, Director of Laboratory Solutions at Siemens Healthineers Egypt, said the launch marks a milestone in the development of laboratory diagnostic services in the region. The Mega Lab serves as the central hub for Al Mokhtabar’s network of more than 460 branches across Egypt, handling approximately 5 million patients annually.
