Alejandro Tabilo defeats Moise Kouamé to reach Roland Garros round of 16

Chilean player Alejandro Tabilo beat 17-year-old Frenchman Moise Kouamé 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-5(9) in the third round of the Paris tournament.

Tabilo dropped the opening set but recovered to win the next three in a match played on the Roland Garros clay. The Chilean faced an opponent viewed as one of the top prospects in world tennis.

Kouamé, ranked 318th in the ATP standings, displayed strong speed and athletic ability throughout the match. Tabilo made unforced errors early but adjusted his game to break serve at key moments in the second and third sets.

In the fourth set both players traded breaks before Tabilo prevailed in the tie-break. The Chilean will next face the winner of Felix Auger-Aliassime versus Brandon Nakashima.

The result places Tabilo among the last 16 at the second Grand Slam of the year, in a draw without any major champions remaining at that stage.
