B-52s set canceled at French festival due to tornado

The B-52s' performance at Retro C Trop Music Fest in Tilloloy, France, was canceled on Saturday just minutes before a storm struck the venue.

The band shared a statement on Facebook apologizing to fans and noting that safety took priority amid the storm. Organizers described the event as a tornado that destroyed public reception facilities and led to the full cancellation of the festival's final day on Sunday.

Frontman Fred Schneider posted details of the incident, including lightning, high winds, and equipment damage from falling scaffolding. He credited the tour manager for delaying the set and confirmed no one was injured.

The festival had also booked Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and Europe for Sunday. A separate weather-related cancellation occurred the same day at Belgium's Werchter Boutique festival, where Katy Perry was set to headline.
