Baldur's Gate 2 remake reportedly in the works

A remake of Baldur's Gate 2 is reportedly underway at Wizards of the Coast. The project involves original co-lead designer Kevin Martens. Both the first and second games may receive simultaneous treatment.

PC Gamer reported on June 1 that Martens, who previously contributed to Exodus at Archetype Entertainment, has begun work on the Baldur's Gate 2 remake. The report suggests the remakes could proceed concurrently given the direct narrative link between the titles. Gameplay style and release details remain unspecified, leaving open the possibility of traditional combat systems rather than the turn-based approach seen in Baldur's Gate 3.
