Banque Misr and the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency signed an EGP 500m agreement on 8 July 2026 to expand financing for micro enterprises under the Tamkeen Microfinance 3 programme.
The agreement was signed by Hossam El Din Abdel Wahab, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Banque Misr, and Bassel Rahmy, Chief Executive Officer of MSMEDA. It forms part of Banque Misr’s ongoing strategy to support the micro, small and medium enterprise sector.
Under the deal, MSMEDA will channel EGP 500m through Banque Misr to existing micro enterprises. Eligible businesses can access between EGP 80,000 and EGP 400,000 for working capital or equipment purchases, with repayment periods of 12 to 36 months. The programme targets firms that obtain a tax card after the signing and is expected to reach around 2,500 enterprises.
Abdel Wahab noted that the new agreement builds on earlier phases of the Tamkeen programme launched in 2021 and 2024. Rahmy highlighted MSMEDA’s cooperation with banks to promote formalisation under Law No. 152 of 2020 and the Ministry of Finance initiative.
