Enterprise development experts urged better funding and policies for Nigeria's micro, small and medium enterprises during the launch of a memoir by former SMEDAN Director-General Dr. Olawale Fasanya in Abuja on 4 June 2026.
The public presentation of the book 'From Cradle to Saddle' took place in Abuja. Stakeholders described MSMEs as vital to job creation and economic diversification, highlighting challenges including limited finance and policy inconsistencies. Katsina State Governor Umaru Dikko Radda, a former SMEDAN Director-General, was represented by Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal Jobe. He praised Fasanya's contributions to the agency and stressed the need for strong institutions. Current SMEDAN Director-General Dr. Charles Odii and University of America Vice-Chancellor Prof. Engr. Gamaliel Onyeka also spoke, emphasizing documentation and knowledge transfer in public service. Fasanya noted the book covers the national MSME policy and the 'One Local Government, One Product' initiative.
