Brynäs extends contracts with three players

Brynäs IF has secured the futures of three key players by extending their contracts. Forward Oskar Lindblom will stay for three more seasons, while captain Anton Rödin signs a two-year deal and defenseman Johannes Kinnvall agrees to three years. The announcements come ahead of a home match against Frölunda.

Brynäs IF, competing in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), announced contract extensions for three important team members on the eve of their home game against Frölunda. The moves aim to build stability in the squad as the club continues its efforts to strengthen its roster.

First reported by Gefle Dagblad and confirmed by sport director Johan Alcén, 29-year-old forward Oskar Lindblom's contract option has been activated for three additional seasons. Lindblom returned to Brynäs ahead of their SHL comeback last season on a 2+3 year deal. Last year, he recorded 28 points in 52 regular-season games and elevated his performance with 13 points in 17 playoff matches. This season, he has 11 points in 24 games.

Alcén stated, "I can confirm that Oskar has a contract for three more years. I will, as always, not comment on the content or details of the contract."

In further announcements before the match, 35-year-old forward and team leader Anton Rödin extended his stay with a two-year contract running through the 2027/28 season. This will mark his 13th and 14th seasons with Brynäs. Rödin, who rejoined in 2019/20, has amassed 392 points (148 goals + 244 assists) in 532 games for the club. He has served as captain and assistant captain, contributing 22 points (8+14) in 23 SHL games this season.

Rödin expressed his enthusiasm: "The feeling is of course very good to have this sorted. I look forward to the two coming years and continuing to be part of what the club has built. I couldn't imagine playing anywhere else. I still think it's very fun to play ice hockey, especially in front of our fantastic supporters."

Alcén praised Rödin: "Anton doesn't really need any further introduction. He has been a top player over time and is a player who drives this team and this group every day in training and matches. He has really shown that he still holds the highest SHL level, and we look forward to continuing to see him wear the red jersey in the coming years."

Additionally, 28-year-old defenseman Johannes Kinnvall signed a three-year extension through the 2028/29 season. Kinnvall has been a core part of the team's rebuild and has produced 23 points (9+14) in 26 SHL games this year, placing third among defensemen in scoring.

Kinnvall said, "Getting the honor to stay in Brynäs, a team I've followed since I was little, feels completely fantastic. I feel enormous pride in wearing the jersey every day. This is what I wanted all along, and I'm very happy and grateful that it worked out."

Alcén added, "Johannes has really developed as both a person and a player in recent seasons. This year he has been one of the league's best defensemen, and we have both been clear about what we want. Now that we're done, it feels really good. Johannes knows what it means to represent Brynäs IF and is a fine ambassador both on and off the ice. We are proud to continue the collaboration."
