Bungoma governor Lusaka dismisses entire executive committee

Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has dismissed all Members of the County Executive Committee, the County Attorney, and the County Secretary with immediate effect. The move comes hours after the county assembly received impeachment motions against a county officer. Lusaka said the decision aims to ensure effective governance and improved service delivery.

Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka announced the dismissal of all Members of the County Executive Committee (CECM), the County Attorney, and the County Secretary with immediate effect. In a press statement on Thursday, April 9, 2026, the governor's office said the decision was made under his constitutional powers to ensure effective governance and service delivery across the county.

"The Office of the Governor wishes to inform the public that, in the exercise of the constitutional mandate to ensure effective governance and service delivery, the Governor has undertaken a reorganisation of the County Executive," the statement read. It added that, pursuant to section 40(1)(a) of the County Governments Act, they have been relieved of their duties.

The action follows the Bungoma County Assembly's announcement on Wednesday, April 8, that it had received impeachment motions against a county officer. The clerk's office stated the motions are under procedural processing and will be presented to the Speaker and the House Business Committee for approval.

Serving his second term, Lusaka did not name replacements. He promised further updates on interim measures and future appointments in line with the law, assuring residents of uninterrupted essential services.
