Homa Bay county commissioner's residence upgraded to state lodge

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has declared the Homa Bay County Commissioner's residence a State Lodge effective May 15. The move follows construction of the facility a year earlier in Homa Bay Town.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen declared the Homa Bay County Commissioner's residence a State Lodge in a gazette notice dated May 12. The change took effect on May 15.

"It is notified for the general information of the public that the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration declares Homa Bay County Commissioner's residence as a State Lodge," Murkomen stated.

The facility was built ahead of the 2025 Madaraka Day celebrations and hosted President William Ruto during the event. It had served as the county commissioner's official residence until now.

Management and security of the property now transfer to the State House Comptroller's office. The County Commissioner must vacate the premises. President Ruto now has three State Lodges in the Nyanza region.
