Coco Gauff and fellow players evacuate Berlin hotel after false alarm

Coco Gauff, Alexandra Eala and Eva Lys were among guests forced to leave the Waldorf Astoria hotel in Berlin early on Wednesday morning after a fire alarm sounded at nearly 3:45 AM local time. The incident proved to be a false alarm caused by a technical issue.

A hotel spokesperson told BILD that there was no danger at any time. Guests returned to their rooms shortly afterward.

Eva Lys shared a photo on Instagram showing Gauff and Eala outside the hotel with a fire truck, captioned “3 AM fire alarm fit check.” Both players reposted the image.

The disruption came ahead of scheduled matches at a Berlin tournament. Eala defeated Donna Vekic 7-5, 6-4 in her 11 AM opener. Gauff, who received a first-round bye, was set to play at 3:30 PM.
