Cooper Pratt hits first Major League home run

Milwaukee Brewers rookie shortstop Cooper Pratt hit his first Major League home run on Monday night against the New York Mets.

Pratt connected for a second-inning solo shot off Mets right-hander Freddy Peralta at American Family Field. Peralta, a longtime Brewers pitcher, faced his former team as a visitor for the first time.

The 21-year-old Pratt ranks as Milwaukee’s No. 3 prospect and No. 53 overall according to MLB Pipeline. He joined the big leagues on June 16 and entered the game with a .244 average and seven RBIs over his first 27 appearances.

The home run came in his 28th game and during his 26th start at shortstop.
