Egypt opens new strategic command in New Capital

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi inaugurated the State’s Strategic Command in the New Administrative Capital on Saturday, coinciding with the 13th anniversary of the June 30 Revolution.

During the ceremony, Sisi described the facility as a qualitative shift in command and control, equipped with advanced technological infrastructure and secure communications for managing military and exceptional situations.

Sisi outlined directives for a national economic programme to follow the current IMF agreement, aiming to shift from stabilisation to sustainable growth. He called for accelerating the state’s exit from economic activities to empower the private sector, along with measures against corruption and expanded digital transformation.

The president also praised US President Donald Trump for agreements halting conflicts in Gaza and with Iran. He stressed Egypt’s position that a comprehensive peace requires a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Sisi announced that the reactor pressure vessel for the second unit at the El Dabaa nuclear power plant will be installed in the coming days, thanking Russian President Vladimir Putin for cooperation on the project.
