Elena Rybakina confronts coach in Wimbledon opener

Elena Rybakina secured her 300th WTA victory at Wimbledon on June 30 after a tense three-set win over Lois Boisson. The second seed also confronted her coach Stefano Vukov during the match on Court 1.

Rybakina defeated the 23-year-old French player 6-4, 1-6, 6-3. The Kazakh, aged 27, described the contest as difficult and noted she had not come from many recent wins.

During one tense moment she told Vukov, “With a straight face, ask everybody. por favor.” The coach replied that he could not hear. Rybakina later said in her post-match interview that she experiences many emotions inside even when she appears calm.

She will next face Caty McNally, whom she has played twice before with one win each. The 39-year-old Vukov has previously faced scrutiny over his conduct.
