Elon Musk has donated $10 million to a super PAC supporting businessman Nate Morris in Kentucky’s Republican primary for the open U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Mitch McConnell, according to Axios. The donation underscores Musk’s growing focus on the 2026 midterm elections and his willingness to fund select Republican candidates and groups.
Elon Musk has donated $10 million to a super PAC supporting businessman Nate Morris in Kentucky’s Republican primary for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Mitch McConnell, according to Axios.
The donation went to the pro-Morris “Fight for Kentucky” super PAC and was delivered last week, Axios reported. The outlet said the $10 million gift is the largest single contribution Musk has ever given to a Senate candidate.
Morris, 45, is running in the Republican primary against Rep. Andy Barr and former Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron. President Donald Trump has not endorsed a candidate in the race, Axios reported.
Axios also reported that Musk’s recent political activity has included other large contributions to Republican-aligned groups and that the Kentucky donation followed a November dinner at Vice President JD Vance’s residence attended by Vance, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and former White House Deputy Chief of Staff Taylor Budowich.
In describing why Musk was drawn to Morris, Axios reported that Musk was impressed by Morris’ business background and anti-establishment messaging, including criticism of McConnell and party leaders. Axios also reported that Morris has been backed by conservative activist Charlie Kirk and by Sen. Bernie Moreno of Ohio and Sen. Jim Banks of Indiana.
McConnell announced in February 2025 that he would not seek reelection in 2026, setting up a high-profile open-seat contest in a state Republicans are heavily favored to hold.
Musk’s $10 million check is among the clearest signs yet that he intends to play a major financial role in the 2026 midterm cycle, Axios reported, after having spent heavily in the 2024 campaign on Republican causes.
