Senator Flávio Bolsonaro claimed in Brasília that Brazilian electronic voting machines originate from the Venezuelan company Smartmatic, which is false.
At an event with diplomats from over 40 countries on Tuesday (21) in Brasília, the PL presidential hopeful repeated false claims about the electoral system.
Flávio stated that a CIA report points to Smartmatic in fraud in Venezuela in 2012 and called for international observers for the 2026 elections.
Electoral Justice has clarified that Smartmatic never supplied voting machines or software to Brazil, only data connection services.
The senator's office denied that he questions the electoral process and said the request for observers follows transparency practices.
