A Florida couple has been arrested and charged with child neglect after allegedly leaving their young children unattended in a hotel room while they drank at the pool.
Brian Nicholas Cannella, 43, and Allison Sirica Cannella, 40, were charged following an incident at the Reefhouse Resort & Marina in Key Largo on July 4.
Monroe County sheriff's deputies responded around 1:45 p.m. after resort staff entered the room due to an unattended baby crying. The children, described as young and left in nursery beds or cribs, had been alone for between 40 minutes and an hour.
Deputies located the couple at the pool area. The children were placed in the care of a family friend by the Department of Children and Families and were not injured.
The Cannellas were taken to the Monroe County Jail and have since bonded out. Their next court appearance has not been scheduled.
