God of War Laufey idea dates back to 2018, actress reveals

Deborah Ann Woll has confirmed that plans for God of War Laufey existed long before its recent announcement. The actress, who stars as Faye, said director Cory Barlog pitched the project to her in 2018.

Woll stated she had known about the game for nearly 10 years. She added that Barlog already had a poster featuring her and a cube when discussing her role in God of War Ragnarok.

"[Director Cory Barlog] pitched [Laufey] to me in 2018, and they had known about it before then," Woll told CGMagazine. "A cube that's been there since the beginning. It's deeply a part of the lore."

The cube refers to Phranque, a character shown in the game's reveal trailer. Barlog discussed long-term story planning in a 2018 IGN interview, noting setups for future games in the 2018 God of War title.

God of War Laufey remains in development for PS5 with no release date confirmed. It will not come to PC.
