Government activates Plan Auto+ with subsidies up to 4,500 euros

The Council of Ministers has approved the regulatory bases for Plan Auto+ to subsidize purchases of electric and hybrid vehicles with up to 4,500 euros each.

The program has a budget of 400 million euros and applies retroactively from January 1, 2026. Applications can be submitted directly or through dealerships.

Industry and Tourism Minister Jordi Hereu said the plan is part of a three-pronged strategy to reindustrialize Spain through electrification. Another 600 million euros were approved to offset industrial decarbonization costs.

Groups including ANFAC, GANVAM, FACONAUTO and ANESDOR welcomed the measure but called for its extension to industrial vehicles, mopeds and non-electric low-emission cars.
