IDLES open recent shows with new song Levitator

IDLES have begun their summer tour dates by opening each show with a new track called Levitator. The Bristol band first performed the song in Mexico in late May and have continued to play it at festivals across Europe.

Guitarist Mark Bowen told NME last month that the group is working on its sixth album and plans to record this year for a 2027 release. He described the material as the band's most exciting yet and said the members are focusing on a back-to-basics approach with live instrumentation and debate in the studio.

Frontman Joe Talbot sings the opening lines of Levitator over a simple guitar riff, with lyrics that include references to shame, beauty, and violence. The track builds to a climax where Talbot calls out racist language.

IDLES are scheduled to perform Levitator again at London's Victoria Park on August 23 during a Deftones headlined event that also features Amyl & The Sniffers, Deafheaven, and JPEGMAFIA. It remains unclear when the song will be released officially.
