US intelligence and law enforcement agencies issued an advisory on Tuesday detailing an escalation in hacking campaigns by Iranian actors targeting internet-exposed operational technology devices. These include programmable logic controllers used in water, energy, and municipal systems. The FBI stated that the attacks have led to diminished PLC functionality, manipulation of display data, and in some cases, operational disruption and financial loss, as posted on X.
