K-Pop Idol Woni Explains Age Barrier to SM and JYP

RESCENE member Woni revealed during a recent web variety show appearance that her age prevented her from joining SM Entertainment and JYP Entertainment. The 21-year-old, who debuted two years ago, discussed her audition experiences alongside groupmate Minami.

Woni appeared on the 150th episode of Salon Drip, which was released on July 28. She told host Jang Do Yeon that she had auditioned successfully at YG Entertainment and a HYBE Labels subsidiary but could not proceed with SM or JYP due to her age at the time.

Woni noted that she received multiple casting offers and chose to explore options while attending auditions. She debuted at age 19 after passing several company evaluations.

Minami, who also appeared on the show, commented that trainees commonly face such limitations and that big dreams drive their decisions. Jang Do Yeon acknowledged the significant time commitment involved in trainee life.
