In Kalamassery, LDF candidate P. Rajeeve led a rally at South Kalamassery featuring rapper Vedan, CPI(M) flags on drones and life-size cutouts. CPI(M) leaders M. Swaraj and S. Sathish joined him amid parodies targeting UDF. UDF's V.E. Abdul Gafoor and NDA's M.P. Binu also drew large crowds with flags and cutouts.
Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan rallied supporters in North Paravur, posing for selfies. In Thrikkakara, UDF's Uma Thomas was backed by Kochi Mayor V.K. Minimol, while LDF's Pushpadas was shouldered by jubilant crowds. Similar high-energy events marked finales in Thripunithura, Ernakulam and Muvattupuzha.
Tragedy struck at North Paravur when Congress worker Ali Valyathuparambu, 68, from Thathappilly collapsed during the 'Kalasakkottu' and was declared dead on arrival at the taluk hospital.
