The Corruption Eradication Commission detained 10 people in a sting operation in Kuantan Singingi, Riau, on 29 June 2026. Bupati Suhardiman Amby and Sekda Zulkarnaen later surrendered at the KPK building on 30 June.
The operation was suspected to involve bribery in the buying and selling of positions within the Kuantan Singingi district government. Nine people were detained in Kuansing and one in Jakarta. Five were taken to Jakarta for further examination, including civil servants, private parties, and a family member.
KPK seized electronic devices containing financial transaction evidence and one four-wheeled vehicle. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said the operation followed suspicions of bribery in filling positions, including that of secretary of the region.
Initially Bupati Suhardiman Amby and Sekda Zulkarnaen were not found. KPK suspected an information leak and asked them to surrender. On Tuesday evening they arrived at the Red and White Building KPK accompanied by lawyer Rizki Poliang. The bupati’s wife, Suci, was also among those detained.
