National Police have clarified the July 14 murder of Facundo Rico, a 37-year-old Spanish-Argentine engineer, in Madrid. The 65-year-old suspect, obsessed with his wife's alleged infidelity, took his own life the next day in Ávila.
On Tuesday, July 14, A. J., a 65-year-old Spanish engineer, entered Facundo Rico's home in the Las Tablas residential area in Madrid's Fuencarral district. After spraying him with pepper spray, he stabbed him 13 to 14 times in the kitchen, according to investigations by the National Police Homicide Group V.
Building cameras and the doorman's testimony identified the attacker, who fled in his red car toward La Adrada in Ávila. There he met his wife before throwing himself into a ravine at the Charco de la Olla site on July 15.
Sources close to the case indicate the couple was undergoing separation and that the wife and victim frequented a nearby gym. The case is closed as the suspect has died, with no possibility of trial.
