Lego launches 3-in-1 retro gaming console building set

Lego has introduced a new Creator 3-in-1 set themed around retro gaming hardware, allowing builders to construct a handheld device, arcade machine, or desktop computer. Priced at $20 for 268 pieces, the set targets children aged eight and older and became available on January 1, 2026. It joins eight other new Creator sets in the January lineup.

The Lego Creator 3-in-1 Retro Gaming Console offers versatility in its build options, with enough pieces to assemble one of three models at a time: a handheld gaming system, a miniature arcade machine, or a compact desktop computer. Builders can switch between designs by disassembling and rebuilding, a core feature of the Creator series. The handheld version includes three interchangeable cartridges that alter the display pattern, along with movable joysticks and triggers, echoing the style of classic portable consoles.

The arcade model captures essential elements like controls and a marquee, though it remains simpler than dedicated Lego arcade sets. The desktop build consists of a monitor on a PC base, a keyboard with arrow keys, and a small mouse. Recommended for ages eight and up, the 268-piece kit retails for $20 and is available at Amazon, Best Buy, and the official Lego Store.

This release forms part of Lego's January 2026 Creator collection, which includes nine 3-in-1 sets overall. Other offerings range from a $10 Cute Hamster with Flower to a $50 Beautiful Dolphins set, with most available at major retailers except the Space Exploration Telescope, exclusive to Lego Store and Target. The retro gaming theme builds on prior Lego gaming hardware kits, such as the 2025 Game Boy set (421 pieces, $60) and Arcade Machine (468 pieces, $40), while larger Icons series like the Pac-Man Arcade (2,651 pieces, $270) remain available. However, the Nintendo Entertainment System and Atari 2600 sets were discontinued in late 2024.
