Man in 60s stabs three in Seoul office after dismissal over assault

A man in his 60s stabbed three people at a redevelopment cooperative office in eastern Seoul after being fired over an alleged sexual assault. The victims were hospitalized but are not in life-threatening condition. The suspect was arrested at the scene.

On Tuesday, November 4, around 10:20 a.m., a man in his 60s surnamed Jo stabbed two women in their 50s and 60s, and a man in his 70s, inside a redevelopment cooperative office in Cheonho-dong, Gangdong Ward, eastern Seoul, police said.

Jo, who previously headed the cooperative, had been on trial for sexually assaulting the woman in her 50s, an organization employee, in July. He was dismissed from his position over the incident. Before the stabbing, Jo reportedly visited the woman at the office seeking a settlement after prosecutors demanded a fine.

The victims were taken to nearby hospitals and are not in life-threatening condition, according to authorities. The suspect was apprehended at the scene on charges of attempted murder and is being questioned about his motives. Cooperative members confirmed Jo's ongoing trial related to the July assault.

This incident highlights tensions around workplace sexual assault allegations and potential retaliation. Police continue to investigate Jo's exact motives.
