Mumford & Sons play surprise gig at Battersea Power Station for Apple's 50th

Mumford & Sons performed a surprise concert outside London's Battersea Power Station to mark Apple's 50th anniversary. The event featured hits and tracks from the band's sixth album, Prizefighter. Nia Archives provided a DJ set from the balcony.

On Thursday evening, Mumford & Sons took the stage in front of Battersea Power Station, the iconic London landmark now a shopping centre since its 2021 reopening, to celebrate Apple's half-century milestone. Apple Music 1 host Dotty introduced the band, who delivered a set blending their biggest hits with selections from their recent sixth studio album, Prizefighter. The performance concluded with a large Apple logo projected onto the building's facade. Nia Archives added to the festivities with a DJ set from the power station's balcony. The setlist included: ‘Here’, ‘Rubber Band Man’, ‘Little Lion Man’, ‘Awake My Soul’, ‘White Blank Page’, ‘The Banjo Song’, ‘Conversation With My Son (Gangsters & Angels)’, ‘The Cave’, and ‘I Will Wait’. Frontman Marcus Mumford recently spoke about the album, saying, “I feel like we’re in our prime and that we’re writing the best songs we’ve ever written. I don’t say that about every record, and I really feel strongly about this one.” He credited collaborations with producer Dave Cobb, Pharrell Williams, and Aaron Dessner for unlocking new creativity. Mumford & Sons will headline BST Hyde Park this summer, their first time leading the festival since 2016. Special guests include The War On Drugs, Holly Humberstone, Caamp, Divorce, and Cliffords.
