Mutoid Man flags similarity in FIFA World Cup anthem

Metal band Mutoid Man has called out the official 2026 FIFA World Cup theme song for resembling one of their tracks. The group shared the observation on Instagram on July 3 without alleging plagiarism.

Mutoid Man highlighted a vocal line in the song 'DNA' that they said sounded familiar to their 2023 track 'Call Of The Void'. The band posted an image of the tournament logo along with the message: "Hey @fifaworldcup that vocal line sure sounds familiar. #goalofthevoid."

'DNA' was released on June 10 and performed by Andrea Bocelli and EJAE at the opening ceremony in Mexico City the next day. It features additional contributions from David Guetta and Megan Thee Stallion.

FIFA has described the track as the ceremonial signature of the tournament. Neither the organization nor the artists involved in 'DNA' have responded publicly to the band's post.
