New study explores rider pregnancy and return to sport

Researchers at Hartpury University have released findings from a survey of 727 riders on experiences with pregnancy and returning to equestrian competition. The work follows recent success by eventer Ros Canter, who won Mars Badminton less than four months after giving birth.

The study highlights that many riders continue competing during pregnancy, with decisions influenced by experience, confidence and health. Riders at higher levels were more likely to ride later into pregnancy and regain their prior performance sooner after childbirth.
