The Green Bay Packers released veteran kicker Brandon McManus on Friday to clear the way for sixth-round rookie Trey Smack to take over the position immediately.
Green Bay traded two seventh-round picks to the Seattle Seahawks to select Smack at No. 216 overall in the 2026 NFL Draft. The move came after McManus struggled in 2025, converting just 24 of 30 field goal attempts following a stronger 2024 season in which he made 20 of 21 attempts. His tenure ended with a poor performance in the wild-card loss to the Chicago Bears, where he missed two field goals and an extra point.
