Player earns rarest Platinum trophy for Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2+ on Vita

PlayStation Vita player Tqvry has become the first to legitimately earn the Platinum trophy for Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2+, a feat verified by PSNProfiles after 13 years since the game's release. The achievement required completing challenging duo missions with an incompetent AI partner. Tqvry streamed the final 10-hour mission live over the weekend.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2+ on the PlayStation Vita is notorious for its extreme difficulty, particularly the 'Dynamic Duo' trophy. This trophy demands beating all missions on Turbo difficulty with a co-op partner. Unlike the PlayStation 3 version, which supports online multiplayer, the Vita port forces players to rely on a computer-controlled partner that often dies within seconds of starting missions, as seen in Tqvry's livestream of the final mission against three bosses simultaneously. A lucky glitch caused one boss to get stuck in the terrain, aiding the completion without intentional exploitation. According to PSNProfiles, Tqvry took 20 months total to 100% the game, making this the only verified legitimate Platinum. While the site shows a 7.3% unlock rate including illegitimate ones, the true rate stands at around 0.01%, described as 'ultra rare.' Two others have unlocked it previously, but without proof like Tqvry's stream. The Platinum is titled 'Master of the Secret Arts,' cementing Tqvry's place in PlayStation trophy history.
