Officers found eight human fetuses in a storage area: five fully formed, two dismembered, and the rest in early developmental stages. They also seized notes and records suggesting systematic practices.
The probe began over a rape case involving a 12-year-old girl from Monte Quemado, Chaco. The girl and her 48-year-old mother were located at the sanatorium that Friday, though the director initially denied it. By afternoon, both had been discharged and left the premises.
Case sources reported an NGO focused on reproductive health, offering voluntary terminations via misoprostol and manual vacuum aspiration, facilitated the minor's and mother's travel. It covered tickets, lodging in Palermo, and admission to a gynecological clinic.
The leading hypothesis is that the baby was born alive and handed over, amounting to possible human trafficking or child abduction. Separately, UFI N°7 of the San Martín Judicial Department is examining irregular handling of biological remains.
