Prime minister Abiy highlights Borana water and irrigation projects

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed visited water supply and irrigation projects in Borana zone and said preparations are underway to harness agricultural potential for future generations.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said on social media that a major water supply project in East Borana and Borana zones is providing reliable clean water through extensive pipelines, modern distribution stations and large reservoirs.

During his visit to irrigation dams in Gomoole Woreda built under Fina Oromia projects, he recalled that a drought three years ago killed more than three million animals in the area.

He noted that 18 Fina irrigation dams have been constructed, with one dam alone supplying water to over 150,000 cattle daily for both drinking and agricultural use. The government will continue extensive work to complete 30 such projects in the region.
