Senator Renan Calheiros (MDB-AL) filed an action at the Regional Electoral Court of Alagoas to block the release of a poll by Instituto Paraná Pesquisas on voting intentions for governor and Senate.
The poll was conducted between June 28 and July 1, with release scheduled for this Friday (3). In the filing, Calheiros argues that three Senate pre-candidates — Alexandre Fleming (UP), Ítalo Bonja (PRTB) and Marcos Omena (Avante) — were excluded from the questionnaire, even though they are publicly running for the seat.
The document also cites "transparency flaws in the sampling plan" and was distributed at 12:10 p.m. on Thursday (2). No court decision had been issued by the end of the afternoon.
Murilo Hidalgo, director of Paraná Pesquisas, said the measure is "yet another attempt to challenge electoral polls from all institutes". On Tuesday (30), TRE-AL had already banned the release of another poll conducted by RealTime Big Data.
