Sean Ono Lennon directorial debut set for Tribeca premiere

Sean Ono Lennon’s first film as director is scheduled to premiere Sunday night at the Tribeca Festival. The documentary, co-directed with Brian C. González, profiles the New York fashion collective ThreeASFOUR.

ThreeASFOUR: Full Circle follows designers Gabi Asfour, Angela Donhauser and Adi Gil, who have worked together for more than 25 years. The collective began as AsFOUR in 1998 and has earned a Cooper Hewitt National Design Award along with museum exhibitions worldwide. Lennon said the film grew from his long admiration for the group’s creative work and its struggles to balance artistic goals with commercial demands. He noted that their unconventional designs make production difficult to outsource. The collective’s members bring diverse backgrounds from Palestine, Israel and Germany, which the film connects to themes of peace and collaboration. Lennon described the project as an extension of the peace-and-love values from his own family. Filming took place over five years. A fall theatrical release at Film Forum in New York is planned through new distributor Assembly Releasing.
